Preliminary / Pre-Lien Notice
Many Utah projects require a subcontractor or supplier to serve a preliminary or pre-lien notice early in the job, generally within about 20 days of first furnishing labor or materials, to keep lien rights alive.

Record Your Mechanics Lien
Record your mechanics lien with the county recorder, generally within about 90 days after the last day you furnished labor or materials to the project.

Deadline to Enforce the Lien (Lawsuit)
File a lawsuit to enforce (foreclose) your lien, generally within about 6 months after the lien is recorded, or the lien can expire.
